How does someone go from a 49-year-old with $140,000 in debt to a best-selling author, speaker, multi-millionaire, and philanthropist?
A lot of great habits, persistence, and belief in his vision.
The man I am talking about is Jack Canfield — the creator of Chicken Soup for the Soul series which have sold over 500 MILLION copies to date.

I loved it so much I found a seminar of his in Salt Lake City (I live in Arizona) and made the trip out last week. I couldn’t miss an opportunity to learn from the guru himself.
Here is my “One Day of Greatness Seminar” review and how you can implement these success habits easily into your life.
E+R = O (Event + Response = Outcome)
Such a simple, but amazing principle you can implement into your life now. The equation basically means that your response to anything is the outcome.
For example, if there is another recession how will you respond? Curl up in the fetal position or find an opportunity to make money?
Your response to anything determines your outcome.
If your boss was to turn down your request to get promoted…would you get upset or deal accordingly?
The time something bad happens, be sure to evaluate your response to the situation. Most people today get worked up over any and everything and are living in a negative state.
Examples like — “The market lost me money, traffic was horrendous, or your coworkers were annoying.” While all may have happened it’s how you respond that will determine if it affects your day and happiness.
Whether it’s a financial, family, work, or life event. Events will always continue, it’s how you react to them that will determine your happiness and well being in life.

Advertise Your Goals
Do you have goals? If so…do you share them with others or are you scared of what other people will think?
I use to do this constantly. I would create giant goals that would scare most people but I rarely (if ever) actually shared them with others.
Guess what…you should share the hell out of them!
As I learned in the seminar, the more you advertise your goals to the world the more likely they are to come true. It will help you find clarity on your goal, attract people to help you and believe it yourself with utter conviction.
I did this earlier this year when I published my 30 for 30 goals and it has worked! I’ve already accomplished 6 of my 30 goals in only two months!
- Run a 5K
- Complete my first triathlon
- Published one new book
- Attend two new seminars (Success Live & One Day To Greatness)
Think about it, if you want to start a business, meet a specific person, or reach a new financial goal you need to let people know. By internalizing your goals it’ll be hard for you to believe them and find the resources to help you achieve them.
People will want to help 9 out of 10 times..if they don’t, remember it’s your response to the outcome that will determine it’s effect.
Visualize Your Goals As Complete
I’m sure you want to make some improvements or reach a goal in some area of your life.
You might want to buy your first home, save your first $10,000, earn your first $100,00 in a year, or reach your goal weight.
How often do you think about these goals as already being complete?
Have you thought about yourself signing the papers and walking into your first home? Have you thought about stepping on the scale to see your dream weight?
I know this is something I have been working on constantly — the art of visualizing your goals as already being complete.
Visualizing isn’t a new technique but it is one that Olympic athletes, business leaders, and ultra-successful people share.
Once you make visualization a habit your brain will begin to think it’s real. It will help you find ways to reach your goals.
Your brain wants to help you achieve your goals and is basically able to accomplish everything if you give it a goal and direction. Once you start to focus on a goal (and advertise it with the world) you will probably notice new people, websites, or other resources begin to emerge.
I’ve started visualizing my goals as complete twice a day — first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed. I review my top 10 goals that I want to accomplish.
If people think you’re crazy or weird, let them.
To be incredibly successful you need to do the things that most people won’t do.
Hard to argue with people like Michael Phelps, Will Smith, Usain Bolt, Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, and countless others who visualized and achieved enormous success.

Do The Hardest Things First
Do you create a to-do list every day or do you block off specific times to accomplish all that you need to do?
For example, at work, if you have a tough call to make do you add it to your to-do list or schedule it first thing in the morning?
Most likely you will put it off until the last minute, or even worse, avoid it and delay it to the next day.
I use to be so guilty of this at work and even when I started blogging full time. Instead of learning about SEO or creating a plan for social media I would delay, delay, delay until I didn’t do it.
Do the hardest things first each and every day.
Whether it’s exercise, reading, doing something uncomfortable at work, or having a tough conversation.
Once you accomplish the hardest task first you will be proud and build momentum to accomplish more throughout the day.
Don’t procrastinate, successful people do what’s needed…even if it’s difficult. This was also a very common theme when I attended “Success Live” Seminar earlier this year.
Jack Canfield is someone that can inspire greatness from anyone. I was so lucky to get to meet him, sit in the front row and speak with him several times.
As Tony Robbins says, “Success leaves clues.”
Whether it’s books, seminars, or videos people love to share how they have become successful.
It’s up to you to learn from them and implement into your life.
